“You (Coren) are a Kambimbi.  Rain is coming!”

(Mumba Yachi, Zambian singer, songwriter and recording artist at Mojo New Media, Lusaka, Zambia)

“Kambimbi”: African Rain bird

Language: Chibemba

Tribe: Bemba

Origin: Bantu (tracing from the upper Congo basin)

During times of drought in the villages of Central Africa (modern day Democratic Republic of Congo), when a kambimbi is sighted…this is a sign of hope that rain is coming…and that soon the earth, and her people, shall be refreshed and renewed.

The Kambimbi is regarded as a “provider of life” bringing hope & assurance of renewal and replenishment.  The Kambimbi is more than a legend of the people.  It is our goal at The Kambimbi Academy to bring this legend to life, in order to promote open and honest conversations about universal respect.  Thus we shall craft a better world for the next generation.

Rain is coming!
